Sleepless in Singapore

Stages of Planning for a Trip

1. Sleepless euphoria
Initial euphoria and excitement upon seeing the air ticket prices of the places u want to go become affordable to poor little budget traveller like me ^-^ Sleepless as i look at all the guide books and drool at all the potential places that i can visit.

2. Sleepless outlining
Sleepless nights as one tries to match the cheap prices to his leave dates. Not a simple task as cheap tickets sell like hot cakes whereas popular leave dates also disappear rapidly. Its also challenging to get a general feel of how many places u want to go and the days spent in each as airline companies usually dun allow date change on discount tickets

3. Sleepless purchasing
More sleepless nights after securing the tickets and deciding on the location as one now has to micromanage and finalise the number of days spent in each city and thinking of the transfer connection between each. The decision on airplanes, trains or buses is not particularly helped by the fact that information on the latter is not readily available online while that of the former is not exactly cheap or time efficient. To save more money, one can even take the risk and try projecting a night spent on the bus or train =)

4. Sleepless booking
Now that one manages to get the broad picture on deciding how many days to stay in a place and how he is going to get to the next place, its another headache again as one searches for the accomodation. Hostels for a budget traveller like me will mean screening through all the numerous options that is available. Experience showed that there's no point relying on the hotel description for more often than not, they are way off in terms of location (which is very important) so its hours after hours screening through reviews and comparing prices.

5. Sleepless dreaming
And when u finally think that u have done it all and booked your flight tickets, connecting transport tickets and your accomodation, u get even more sleepless nights as the excitement and anticipation overwhelms you as u realise that everything is booked and you are definitely going on your trip.

Yup and that's what i had been precisely going through for the last 2 weeks as i planned out my
April European Renaissance - Embracing Greek, Roman & Bohemian Cultures ^-^
Reminded me of my MBBS days where i was planning for my Virgin European Tour while studying. Quite challenging this time round for i had to plan 2 trips at one go and it did really took its toll on me. (Was like a walking zombie every day as i always slept way past 12 despite always telling myself that i REALLY REALLY need to sleep earlier). Anyway, it was also more difficult because this time round i had to start from scratch to choose the best location (Too much screw-up in the past had made me a wiser boy =D) whereas previously i only had to choose one near the girls' hotels so it narrowed down the choices significantly. There is another issue of me booking too late for a lot of the connecting flight so that was another headache. (Was dily-dallying too much in the beginning by indulging myself in the guidebooks so was shocked to find that a lot of my initial intended flights were either sold out or had soared to unreasonable prices).

But yup, finally settled it so now i m one happy boy again. 2 more weeks to long leave. Whooopeeee!!!!!!!!

Magical Enchantments

Haha this will be a short post. Have been thinking of how to preserve all the memories of the places that i have been to, in addition to the photos i have taken. Realised that i usually dun blog about them much. Well i must say its due to the lack of time and by the time, i have it, the mood is gone. Oh well, anyway, i have decide to have a spinof of my own blog which will focus solely on my travel experience. Just made one post so far and hopefully i will find both time and inspiration to blog more there also.
