Medicine @ SGH -- Enriching, Exhilirating, Exuberating

Today is the last day of posting of generl medicine. Many thanks to K who offered to take my last call on Tues (i m definitely grateful for that, although i m still quiite pissed with the secretary for giving me the most number of calls, as well as, most numbers of public holidays calls) among the 30 HOs that are posted to SGH. [and esp when there are like 10 ppl who never had to do a single PH call, its simply gross injustice]

Medical posting this time round is mainly full of ups i will say (except for the ocassionally hiccups here and there). Maybe its the shaking off of things from the previous ortho postings or maybe its because i have learnt through the harsh experiences of interpersonal realities in the last posting that i should learn to be smarter and less kind when doing certain things

Think i have really been blessed with really nice tutors and supervisors this time round. Most of them are more than willing to teach and i definitely feel more confident in looking after my patient right now than i was before. (Hee hee my trip to HK was timed to such perfection that it may have helped me avert a potential disaster) Credits must also be given to my previous posting. Being thrown into the deep end right at the very start and making all those stupid blunders had actually provided a good foundation for me to further strengthen my medical knowledge and for that i m grateful also. Last but not least, i must also thank my stars for showering me with good fortune most of the times. Only when the workload is low, then is there room for learning and i do think that a lot of the time, i wouldnt be able to learn as much if i were to face the numerous work that some of my colleagues had to endure. A good example of that would be all that had happened during the first week of my last rotation.

Anyway, maybe its my lack of time to blog but overall this 4 months had been a good experience. Pediatrics was not my first choice but i shall adopt the attitude that i had always held throughout the years. Things happen for a reason and if i had to do paeds, then there must be a reason too. Although i must admit that i did try to change it, but the difficulties i had to face while trying to change it just make me feel that i should just accept what there lies for me

Happy New Year everyone
(2007 - another odd number year)
